Job Description

At The Foggy Dog, we believe your best friend deserves the best. That’s why we are passionate about making high-quality pet accessories that are as beautiful as they are functional. And, every order helps a pup in need: since launch, we are proud to have provided over 500,000 pounds of food to rescue shelters. Our products are available at thefoggydog.com and in over 1,000 brick and mortar retailers.

We are a small (but mighty!) female-founded team based in San Francisco. As a family-owned business, we are invested in finding the best people to join our tightly knit team. We are looking for candidates who thrive in a creative, energetic, data-driven environment and share our values of collaboration, communication, and positivity. This role is an exciting opportunity to make a huge impact on a fast-growing ecommerce company from the ground up.

Job Description:
We’re seeking an analytical and detail-oriented Associate Merchandise Planner to join our growing team. This role is ideal for someone who is eager to learn, take ownership, and make an immediate impact within a fast-paced ecommerce environment. You will collaborate closely with production, marketing, and merchandising teams to ensure we maintain healthy inventory levels, minimize stockouts and excess, and scale operations efficiently.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and maintain weekly demand forecasts at the SKU level, incorporating historical sales, promotional activity, seasonal trends, and stakeholder input.
  • Monitor forecasts versus actuals, analyze variances, and implement corrective actions to continuously improve accuracy.
  • Produce weekly sales performance reports and analyze trends, promotional effectiveness, seasonality, and other demand drivers.
  • Recommend replenishment orders based on inventory health, forecasted demand, and production capacity.
  • Partner with production and operations teams to ensure timely execution of inventory plans, align on capacity constraints, and support fulfillment of inbound inventory.
  • Track and report key inventory metrics (including stockouts, excess inventory, and inventory turnover) to identify risks and opportunities.
  • Ensure accuracy and consistency of master SKU data, including product attributes and bundling configurations.
  • Build dashboards and reports to provide visibility into forecasting, sales, and inventory metrics across the business.
  • Collaborate with merchandising and marketing to understand upcoming promotions, product launches, and seasonal plans, and incorporate their impact into planning.
  • Present forecast insights and inventory recommendations to cross-functional teams in planning meetings and business reviews.
  • Actively participate in monthly and quarterly planning reviews to align demand, supply, and financial objectives.
  • Continuously improve forecasting processes by identifying opportunities for automation, improved tooling, and process optimization.

About You:

  • 1–3 years of experience in inventory planning, demand/supply planning, or related roles—ideally in a direct-to-consumer (DTC) or ecommerce environment.
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail, with the ability to work independently and manage complexity across a high volume of SKUs.
  • Proficient in Excel and experience working with planning or inventory management tools (e.g., NetSuite, Shopify, inventory platforms, or ERP systems).
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work cross-functionally across departments.
  • Curious, proactive, and eager to learn—comfortable taking initiative and growing in a fast-paced environment.
  • Passion for pets and thoughtful design!

Compensation and Benefits:

We offer a comprehensive package including:

  • Salary range of $65-80K depending on experience, skill and geographic location
  • Medical, dental and vision insurance.
  • 401(k) with matching.
  • Paid vacation, holidays and sick leave.
  • Generous Foggy Dog product allowance.
  • The ability to bring your dog to work (please do!).

To Apply:

To apply, please submit your resume and a cover letter to careers@thefoggydog.com with “Associate Merchandise Planner” in the subject line. We are a small team and every hire has a huge impact on the company, so tell us what inspires you to want to join our team. Please note that we will not evaluate resumes without cover letters.

We believe a diversity of viewpoints, experiences, and backgrounds make our team stronger. The Foggy Dog is proud to be an equal opportunity employer (EEO) that welcomes applicants and employees of all genders, races, backgrounds, orientations and nationalities.
