Role Overview: The Director of Communications and Marketing is responsible for developing and executing marketing and communications strategies for the Blue Cross Complete (BCC) of Michigan health plan, ensuring alignment with enterprise standards while tailoring initiatives to meet market-specific needs. Working closely with Corporate Communications Shared Services, internal partners, and health plan leadership, the Director will lead efforts to strengthen brand messaging and position the organization favorably among key stakeholders across the state.

Work Arrangement

  • Hybrid - The associate must be on-site two (2) days per week at our Southfield, Michigan (MI) location.

Responsibilities

  • Lead marketing and communications efforts to improve member outcomes, attract and retain membership, and drive high member satisfaction, with a strong focus on measuring and evaluating results.
  • Drive internal communications to foster an outcome-oriented culture, enhance employee engagement, and ensure team members are informed of BCC goals and key enterprise changes.
  • Lead effective communications with key BCC stakeholders, including the state of Michigan and providers, to support the accomplishment of BCC goals.
  • Manage daily operations of local communications and marketing functions.
  • Provide strategic communications and marketing counsel to health plan leadership.
  • Direct and mentor departmental staff, fostering a collaborative and high-performing team environment.
  • Develop and execute local marketing and communications strategies in partnership with Corporate Communications, Corporate Marketing, and other shared services teams.
  • Customize corporate marketing programs and campaigns to resonate with market-specific audiences, including members, providers, community stakeholders, legislators, and government entities.
  • Ensure consistency and alignment with enterprise brand and editorial standards across all initiatives.
  • Act as media liaison and spokesperson when necessary, developing strategies to secure positive media coverage.
  • Ensure all Medicaid-related materials comply with regulatory approval requirements.

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in communications, marketing, or related field
  • Master's degree preferred
  • 8 to 10 years of progressively responsible business experience, including at least five years managing Public Relations, Communications, or Marketing functions in a healthcare setting.
