Job Summary Plan and execute small scale landscaping operations and maintain grounds and landscape of the hospital
Qualifications High School Diploma or GED (Required)
Vocational / Technical Degree in Groundskeeping, Landscaping or related field. (Preferred)
Work Experience
2 - 3 years Landscaping and grounds maintenance & (Required)

Groundskeeping Essential Functions
Attend to the needs and problems related to Grounds Maintenance in order to maintain PPHS properties to required standards.
Consult with and keep supervisor informed of activities, needs and problems related to grounds maintenance.
Completes hospital work orders properly and turns into supervisor.
Schedule and coordinate activities for the maintenance and care of the hospital grounds and off campus properties as assigned; maintain logs and prepare reports summarizing labor and material expenditures; inspect grounds to ensure safe conditions and make recommendations for improvements.
Obtain quotes from contractors and or develop estimates for in-house work; make recommendations regarding making or buying items needed. Order supplies.
Prepare and grade terrain.
Apply fertilizers. Seed and/or sod lawns, transplant/plant shrubs, plants, and trees.
Cultivate, plant, and week gardens and flower beds.
Mow and trim lawns; repair established lawns; plan new lawns.
Prune trees, trim shrubs.
Connect and maintain sprinkling equipment.
Water lawns, flower beds/gardens, shrubs and trees.
Spray trees, shrubs, plants and apply nutrients for lawn and plant growth as certified.
Dig trenches and install drain tile. Maintain greenhouse to provide plants, flowers, and greenery for interior hospital decorating.
Clean grounds using rakes, brooms, and hose.
Shovel, sweep, and remove debris from grounds.
Care for and maintain equipment and supplies used in performance of duties.
Requisition supplies and equipment as needed.
May perform tasks such as: Deliver and pick up items for hospital related functions (on and off hospital premises), pick up trash containers and transport to terminal areas.
Inspect and perform minor repairs to equipment such as lawnmowers.
Technology And Equipment Use Demonstrates technical skill in using equipment appropriate for role.
Understands equipment operation.
Maintains equipment in working order.
Troubleshoots equipment problems.
Uses technology to increase productivity.
Adapts to new technology
Additional Duties
Adheres to the hospital and departmental attendance and punctuality guidelines.

Performs other duties as required and completes all job functions as per departmental policies and procedures.
Maintains current knowledge in present areas of responsibility (i.e., self education, attends ongoing educational programs).
Attends staff meetings and completes mandatory in-services and requirements and competency evaluations on time.
Demonstrates competency at all levels in providing care to all patients based on age, sex, weight, and demonstrated needs.
For non-clinical areas, has attended training and demonstrates usage of age- specific customer service skills.
Wears protective clothing and equipment as appropriate.
